Let me give you the absolute truth. This place is a shit hole. This place is the ninth level of hell. This place would give satan nightmares. As I write this review I can literally hear the man and woman below me physically abusing each other. BELOW.ME. Every building absolutely reaks with weed and mould. The Apartments themselves are so dated and old that I had to get a heater system replaced because it would produce heat even when I had it shut off (mind you I've a student with no money and I can't afford that kind of bill). The only thing good about this place is Chester the cat who's the sweetest boy. Dont look at the one star rating as how I actually feel, you can't post reviews without a rating but believe me it deserves nothing.
So if you ever want to come here, run, and run fast.

Bar none the worst apt building I've seen. Always strange things going on around the doors, people blocking off the entrances smoking cigarettes and likely more, a mess of garbage, debris, broken glass, cigarette butts around. Second rear door at building 1 has had graffiti on it for quite a while. Awful smell inside, especially in the basement. Dark and narrow hallways with very little room to move furniture in and out. No elevators.

Killam Properties, the landlord, is unresponsive and doesn't care about much that happens there. Constant noise inside and out the building which can really interfere with daily living and your sleep. You can hear virtually everything your upstairs, downstairs and two side neighbours do. If they're loud, Killam doesn't care. You will never get evicted for making noise, so if you're a loud person, everyone is at your mercy.

Price increases are a given every year and non negotiable. No improvements are ever made to the apartments. Flooring is especially bad. Freezing cold in the winter, unbearably hot in the summer. You can't keep your windows open either, especially if facing Freshwater Rd. Cars honking all day and night long, people yelling on the street, motorcycles, general madness. You would never be able to relax and never be able to sleep. Even with windows closed and a fan running, it's still like living in an amusement park.

AVOID NO MATTER WHAT.

Never move in here! You will never get a minute of peace and quiet again. The building is ridiculous. Dirty and old. Lots of horrible people. Noise and fighting all night long. Frequent police visits.

Do yourself a favor and run in the opposite direction. I wish i did.

Do you want to hear EVERYTHING your neighbors do? Freshwater Rd Apts is the place for you. Packed full with inconsiderate noisy people who never, ever leave their apts.

Horrible place. Horrible management. Noisy and old. Lots of probs, very mean resident manager.

One star would be generous for this place. The resident manager, in my opinion, is one of the rudest, most angry people I've met. Simple questions are too much. You will never feel so unappreciated as a tenant anywhere else. The apartments, like the other reviewer mentioned, are rather small. Hardwood floors radiate sound through the building like you'd never believe (and they're scratched to death). The place would be fine if Killam maintained it - but there seems to be little regard for tenant comfort or satisfaction.

But more than anything, dealing with the resident manager... For absolutely anything.... Nightmares.

Lived here over a year and have received eviction warnings for my child running around playing from tenants below. The washers and dryers barely work so make sure you have triple the change for each load. I've had friends and family over that notice a strong 'illegal' substance smell and most times you will find an odd cigarette butt in the hall. I don't feel this is the right kind of place to raise a small child with the crime in the area and there is a tenant that lives down the hall that committed violent armed robberies in the neighboring stores and businesses. In my personal opinion the building manager and resident manager are not pleasant people to deal with, I had to call about something broken in my apartment and the resident manager tell me he hates his job and people calling him at all hours of the day ( I placed my phone call at 4pm). I'm happy to be finally leaving this residence and would never ever suggest someone to rent here. Their 'beautiful hardwood floors' are old and damaged, the balcony's are slimy with green. If you want something fix you have to call everyday or second day to probably get something done. I was told my place had a brand new bath tub, and only after I cleaned it I came to realize scratches and scrapes are covered in some kind of cover up. All the closet doors fell off about a week of moving in. And the windows in my apartment leak, but I noticed most windows have some sort of mold inside them. When the power goes out as it did the winter past, there are no emergency lights and my apartment was ice within an hour or two from the seepage of air blowing in. You hear everything from other apartments there is no soundproofing at all. The apartments are pretty small. You have to have bell aliant set up to use your buzzer or it doesn't work at all. I was told this was a secure building and believed that till they found a man living in the halls breaking into open apartments and people coming in and breaking open mail boxes to steal mail. The rent has gone up twice since I have lived here and what the rent is would definitely not be worth it, and they take your whole damage deposit for more tiny common things other than the bigger things.
